Since
1924, the United Way of Greater Los Angeles has touched the lives of millions of homeless and poverty stricken people in our communities. By providing support to some 160
community agencies (PDF), United Way can create pathways out of poverty and make a tremendous impact on the health and well-being of hundreds of thousands in need throughout LA county. Last year alone, the generous support of its donors allowed United Way to:
Provide Basic Needs:
- 220,000 children and adults received medical care
- 236,000 meals served
- 5.2 million meals provided through grocery distribution
Improve Educational Achievement through Tomorrow’s Leaders program:
- 6,096 youth enrolled
- 4,982 youth completed at least one 10-week session
Increase Financial Stability through the United Way Family Savings program:
- 360+ new enrollments in top 104 “high-need” zip codes
